    FAQ

    What is a concrete truck?

A concrete truck, also known as a concrete mixer truck or cement mixer truck, is a specialized vehicle used to transport freshly mixed concrete from a production facility or batching plant to construction sites. It typically consists of a rotating drum mounted on the back of a truck chassis, allowing the concrete to remain agitated during transportation to prevent it from hardening prematurely. Once on-site, the concrete can be discharged from the drum and directly poured into forms for construction projects such as buildings, roads, or bridges.

What is a concrete truck used for?

A concrete truck, also known as a cement mixer truck or transit mixer, is specifically designed to transport ready-mixed concrete from a production facility to a construction site. It has a rotating drum mounted on the back that continuously mixes the concrete during transit, ensuring it remains fresh and workable until it's poured at the desired location on the construction site.

What hazards are involved in concrete truck use?

Many hazards exist in concrete truck operation, for example:

    • Falls
    • Struck-By Accidents
    • Pinching/Crushing Injuries
    • Falling Objects
    • Collapse of Loads
    • Suffocation

To mitigate these hazards, proper training, adherence to safety protocols, regular equipment maintenance, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and thorough site inspections are essential.

Do you need a license to operate a concrete truck?

To operate a HR / body truck on public roads or road-related areas, you will need a state-issued driver's licence (likely HR Class).

    Did you know?

Concrete trucks, commonly known as mixer trucks or transit mixers, have significant utilization in Australia. These specialized vehicles are designed to transport concrete from the batching plant to construction sites. Concrete trucks have a rotating drum that keeps the concrete agitated and prevents it from setting during transport. This ensures that the concrete arrives at the construction site in a freshly mixed and workable state.

In Australia, concrete trucks are an integral part of the construction industry, contributing to the timely delivery of concrete for a wide range of projects, including buildings, roads, and infrastructure developments.
