    Why work with Spire

    • Experts in the WHS Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice
    • Remote-first consulting across every Australian state and territory
    • Cross-industry experience — construction, manufacturing, councils, health, resources
    • Brisbane-based team — we travel when on-site time genuinely adds value
    The team behind every engagement

    Senior consultants on every engagement

Spire engagements are led by Nathan Owen (15 years in WHS and HSEQ, postgraduate qualifications in WHS and business, tertiary teaching background) and Tanya Protasova (10 years across construction and engineering, AS/ISO management-systems specialist). Larger projects bring in Jodie Rice for risk management, system implementation and auditing, and Arley Serrano on QA/QC, inspections and audit documentation.

You get a senior consultant for the work that matters — scoping, audit findings, system design and regulator-facing documents — and a system written around how your business actually runs rather than a recycled template.

    How we engage

    • Scope first — fixed price, fixed deliverables, no scope creep.
    • On-site or remote — whichever actually adds value for the work.
    • Plain-English deliverables — written for your team, not for shelves.
    • Follow-through — we stay engaged until the findings are actioned.

    Common Questions

WHS consulting across Australia — FAQs

01Do you deliver WHS compliance audits in every state and territory?
Yes. We audit against the model WHS Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice in all jurisdictions that have adopted the harmonised laws (every state and territory except Victoria, which we audit against the Victorian OHS Act and Regulations). Audits can be on-site or remote, and you receive a written report with prioritised, actionable findings.
02Can you build a safety management system that works across multiple states?
Yes. We build practical WHS management systems aligned to ISO 45001 that scale across multi-site, multi-state operations. The system is written around how your business actually runs — not template-dumped — so the same documents work whether your team is in Brisbane, Perth or a regional depot.
03Are you accredited to do ISO 45001 readiness work nationally?
We are consultants, not a certification body. We get you ready for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification — gap assessment, documentation, internal audits and pre-audit coaching — then a JAS-ANZ accredited certifier (such as our sister brand ISO Certification Group) issues the certificate. We work this way across every state and territory.
04Will you travel to regional and remote sites?
We've worked across every state and territory — including mines, ports, civil projects and remote council operations — and can travel anywhere in Australia when the scope warrants it. In practice most regional work is delivered remotely (system build, documentation, audit prep and review) because travel costs add up quickly. Where on-site time genuinely adds value we scope it up front so there are no surprises on the invoice.
    05How quickly can you start?
For most audits and system projects we can scope and start within one to three weeks. Urgent incident support, regulator response or pre-tender compliance work is usually triaged within 24–48 hours — call 1300 156 382 if it's time-critical.
06Do you work with small businesses or only large enterprises?
Both. Our clients range from small contractors needing a single audit through to multi-site enterprises, councils and government agencies. The scope is sized to the business — we don't push enterprise-grade documentation onto small operators.
