Free SWMS Templates (Safe Work Method Statements)

This library lists our free safe work method statement (SWMS) templates A–Z by trade and task. If you want a blank format to write your own, start with our general SWMS template.

Under the model WHS Regulations, a SWMS must be prepared before any high risk construction work starts, such as work at heights over two metres, work near energised electrical installations, demolition, trenching or work involving mobile plant. It identifies the work, the hazards, and the control measures, and sets out how they will be put in place, monitored and reviewed. Workers must be consulted on it and the work must be done in line with it.

Principal contractors, subcontractors and supervisors use these templates to prepare SWMS quickly and consistently. Review each one with the workers doing the job and update it when the task or site conditions change.
