A WHS inspection is a planned walk-through of a work area to identify hazards, check that existing controls are in place and working, and record actions to fix what is found. Regular inspections are one of the main ways a PCBU meets its duty under the model WHS Act to identify and manage risks so far as is reasonably practicable. They also give health and safety representatives and workers a structured way to be consulted.

Managers, health and safety representatives and WHS committee members use these checklists in workshops, warehouses, offices, schools and construction sites. Tailor the items to your own hazards, set an inspection frequency, and make sure corrective actions are assigned and closed out.
